I'm Jakub. I keep my own data and run open source where there is a version worth running. I have never had a good answer to why I would hand a company my photos and my mail when I do not have to. Convenience is the honest answer, and doing it myself has cost less than I assumed.
This runs on hardware I own and a VPS I pay for. I do keep analytics, because I would rather know which posts were worth writing, but it is Umami on my own box: no cookies, and nothing about you leaves it.
When the thing I need doesn't exist, or exists only as a service someone else can withdraw, I write it and publish it here. Usually small, usually specific to one problem.
